Salvia: Not a Party DrugPeople who are new to Salvia
or are just looking for another “high” may not understand one fact about this
herb, which is, Salvia is not a party drug.
Many people just consider Salvia as the legal form of marijuana when, in
fact, it is not. Salvia is different
than any other hallucinogenic drugs. Unlike any of the other “illegal” drugs on
the market, Salvia is traditionally used for inducing visions for spiritual
healing. No other “party drugs” can be used for this reason, because,
generally, all other hallucinogenic drugs are self destructive not self
empowering. However, this may not
explain why Salvia is not a party drug.
As stated above, Salvia
Divinorum, a.k.a. Sage of the Seers, was traditionally used, in Mexico,
as a way of inducing visions by Shamans during spiritual healing sessions. Knowing this helps you to understand what
type of atmosphere is needed to truly experience and grow from Salvia. You can imagine that, during a spiritual
healing session, not a lot was going on around the session. The same goes for using Salvia today. Unlike
other drugs, which can be taken and experienced fully in a crowd of people or
by your self, Salvia needs certain conditions in order to be experienced to its
full extent.
Generally, Salvia is used
for vision quests, a self healing ritual, meditation, etc… Moreover, when
Salvia is used, you most likely will have an out of body experience, experience
visions, feel as if you are moving through time, etc and if taken at the wrong
time, such as during a party or with a group of people, your Salvia experience
can be very bad indeed. This is why it is crucial, in order to
experience the health benefits associated with Salvia, that you use it in a dim
room with light music or no sound at all. You can have one or two close
friends, you significant other, or a sitter present with you, but it is
important that they, too, realize the atmosphere needed in order to obtain a
good experience with Salvia.
Many other drugs can be used
in party atmospheres because they only cause you to experience things that do
not debilitate you. However, since
Salvia is an introspective drug, meaning it causes you to look inward and even
take you into your past; you can be debilitated by it, at least for a few minutes.
This is such a deeply spiritually hallucinogenic drug, that using it outside of
its intended purposes can lead to sometimes harmful consequences and you will
not have learned anything from using Salvia.
These consequences include actually falling into the deepest level of
Salvia high, where you are unconscious and are not aware of anything around
you. Moreover, as with any drug, if you use Salvia at a party and then decide
to leave, you could hurt someone driving under its influence.
If you do decide to use
Salvia, keep in mind the reasons behind using it and the atmosphere needed truly
experience it. Salvia is not a party
drug and if you remember this, you could have a life changing experience.
