Using and Storing SalviaThose of you who are
interested in Salvia or have just started learning about it may not have the
first clue about how to use and store it.
This is something that is crucial to know because you are spending money
on this plant, even if you are growing it from home for the first time. While it is not a very difficult process, it
is important for all beginner users to know a few simple facts about using and
storing Salvia.
For all first time users,
storing the Salvia is not the most important thing because, more than likely,
you only ordered enough to try it out. It would be illogical to order a huge
amount of Salvia before you know how it is going to affect you and if you will
even like the experience. Therefore, it
is wise to learn a few simple facts about using Salvia before you worry about
storing it.
One of the first ways to use
Salvia is actually by chewing it.
However, it is important to note that you will not ingest as much of the
Salvia through chewing and swallowing, but just holding the Salvia in your
mouth can be an effective means of ingesting the hallucinogenic
properties. On the same note, Salvia can
also be mixed with water as a type of tea, though, to truly experience it, a
lot of Salvia leaves will need to be used.
It is stated that using the Salvia this way can make the experience last
significantly longer.
Another way to use Salvia is
through smoking it. While you can smoke
it as a “joint” it is best to use a pipe or water pipe. This is because that
Salvia leaves need a high heat to vaporize and you need to be able to inhale it
as quickly as possible so as not to lose any of the smoke. The only disadvantage to smoking Salvia is
that you are inhaling smoke into the lungs and this can, potentially, damage
them. It is also best to use a water pipe so the smoke is cooled down before in
enters your lungs.
One last way to use Salvia
is through pure vaporization, which consists of burning the leaves at a high
temperature and in such a way that they do not catch fire. This is probably the healthiest way to inhale
Salvia because there is no carbon monoxide or other harmful smoke produced to
damage the lungs.
Now that you know a few
things about using Salvia, you should know how to store it. Storing Salvia leaves is actually quite
simple. All you really need is a jar
that can close tightly and a dark place.
It is very important to keep your Saliva out of the direct
sunlight. Once you have your Salvia
leaves in the jar, you will simply place it in a cabinet or such until you are
ready to use it. It is said that Salvia
can survive for years if stored properly and even longer if you were to store
it in the freezer.
